Abstract
The purpose of these studiesǰis to determine total phenolics content, antioxidant and
antimicrobial activitiesǰof

Different solvents of varying polarity were
examined and compared their capabilities to extract essential bioactive agents from dried herb
ǰ
The 90%
ethanol was found to be the best among test solvents for extraction which yields 4.62 ǰof dried herb.
ǰ
The
result showed that the 50% ethanol extract had the highest content of total phenolics content (4.190 mgǰ
GAE per g) and the 90% ethanol extract had the greatest the half maximal inhibitoryǰconcentration (IC50)
(12.16 mg per g) ǰTextile samples were treated with the various extracts and evaluated for their
antibacterial activities.ǰCompared to al, the textile treated with the 50% ethanol extract was found to
exhibit the most significant antibacterial activity against of bacteria while the textile treated with the
hexane extract showed no inhibition.ǰHowever,ǰthe useǰof mordant with extracts coating on fabric was
found to enhance performance related to wash durability.
