Abstract
Thermophilic fungi have been reported their ability to produce thermostable xylanase. They
can growth in high temperature environment above 45 °C. This research is aimed to isolate xylanase -
producing thermophilic fungi from Kuankang Hot Spring, Trang Province. The decay-wood,-leaf and soil
around the hot spring were sampled and isolated for fungi on Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) at 45 °C for
5-7 days. The isolated fungi were tested for xylanase production on Cellulolysis Basal Media (CBM)
containing xylan as substrate. The result showed 32 isolates of thermophilic fungi grow on PDA. There
are 7 isolates having Hydrolysis Capacity (HC value) higher than 1.2 and KKH0418 showed highest
activity of xylanase of 42.7ǰU/ml after 9 day cultivation.
