Abstract
The research aimed to study female protagonists who expressed themselves by social emancipation. Here, the
social bonds of women are conditions of being uneducated, being unemployed, being married, and being a mother.
The social emancipations to be considered were based on Simone de Beauvoir's concept. Two novels written by
Botan, Waewwan and Tawan Ching Plob, were studied. Using Simone de Beauvoir's concept, data taken from both
novels were analyzed by four issues of women's self-emancipation : emancipation by education, emancipation by
